It’s England in the early 1900s, and very pentacle of human innovation and the dawning of a new technological revolution, but with it, came something else.

Half helping and half carrying Shard through the kitchen doors, Cole looks around the room. "Is it common practice to treat one's wounds the same place you prepare your meals. I hope you don't plan on cooking him, he's been a good man. Safe and solid, protecting and proud. He feels like quiet, stronger when you hold him." He says looking to Hetty.

"Reaching out to the table to unburden himself from Cole, "reminds me to never use the phrase Bite me." Then a quizzical expression washes over his face. "Say...that's actually a fair point, but i don't feel like tackling any steps, and rather avoid being carried in Cole's arms if such can be avoided."

"Cannibalism is highly frowned upon." She ponders on the concept of the kitchen doubling as an infirmary and shrugs.

"All I know is that this is where Anna dragged you after the mess this after you arrived. To be honest, I don't know if there is another appropriate place in the inn..."

Feeling very much out of her element Hetty takes this opportunity to duck out. "I'll go ask. She's obviously still awake."

Nodding as he slowly eases himself down on the table. "Cole, I don't know how you keep digging around in my thoughts, but please keep those things where you find them." He groans while laying down on the table. "It's sometimes best not to blurt out those things in someone else's head, especially when those thoughts belong to someone else. But still, thanks for everything you've done so far."

As she quietly steps down the kitchen stairs, Anna surveys Shard's wounds visually. "If that chest wound needs stitches you're going to start looking like Frankenstein's monster. Though you came out of this bit a lot better than the other evening's activities."

The stone floor of the kitchen is cold against her feet as she steps from the stairs. Walking brusquely to the sink, Anna washes her hands before getting a warm bowl of water for cleaning up his wounds of dirt and ash.

"Tomorrow I'll convert one of the guest rooms for these types of situations. They are becoming alarmingly regular." She takes out anything she things she may need to help put Shard back together again.

"Stitches yes, but pack the wounds with the he petals in my my right best pocket, and Mrs Barton I don't wish to alarm you any, but you seem to have a bit of a monster problem, and we may have to use your New friend to cover up the damages and bodies outside." He says without moving, "I was trampled and caught in a bit of an explosion." He says with his eyes rolling towards Cole "Everything hurts."

"I've noticed," she says dryly. Anna does as Shard requests and digs into his pocket for the petals, putting them aside for when she's ready for them. Taking a cloth she gets to the business of cleaning wounds and stitching Shard back together again.

"The good news is your ribs seem to be bruised and not broken. And most of your injuries are superficial. I told Hetty to throw you in a net if you start doing anything stupid like running into a fight unhealed." It's not exactly what she told the girl, but close enough.

Hetty comes down the stairs as Anna fixes up Shard and stands next to Cole, staying out of the way as her last attempt at helping in this area was probably more of a hindrance. At the innkeepers mention of the net she chuckles. "I do believe this current round of injuries was rather unavoidable in the moment."

Nodding, "Thank the maker for small blessing." But we'll still need to take of the bodies and the damages outside, we don't need the wrong people to come poking around and asking questions." Pausing to glance over at Cole, "You'll going to have be more careful with your abilities Cole, most people don't have powers in this world and witnessing such acts can cause....problems, people here can react poorly, so be careful with the flying thing."

Finishing the stitching she nods. With her concentration no longer completely on making sure her needle was going into the right places, Anna starts to pay attention to what Shard is actually saying as she works on bandaging.

She debates mentioning that guns going off and giant magical nets in the small hours of the morning are just as unnerving for the general population. However Anna decides she is too tired to get in a lengthy discussion or do any potential verbal sparring at this moment in time. Instead she ties off the last bandage and washes the blood off her hands.

"I'll see if Mr. Cain can do a disappearing trick with that mess." Besides, if he really has the good of the inn in the forefront of his mind, this is a task Allyister will willingly take on. Anna heads into the tap room to hunt down the man.

Considering Shard's words, and thinking of his shock after witnessing Anna's use of an firearm, he nods. "I'll be more careful friend Shard," Then he smiles, "But you needen't worry about my using my chi to fly, I have noticed in your world, much like my own, people rarely ever look up."

Frowning at the turn of the conversation, "I thought we didn't like Mr. Allyister."

Having missed Shard’s suggestion of Anna Maria delegating clean-up duty to her “new friend” having not been in the room at the time, she cocks her head at Cole’s statement. She assumes Anna went in search of Mr. Cain of her own volition.

“I think the man is shady and underhanded. It would seem Ms. Barton may still be under the effects of the music earlier. Those types of control are rarely permanent, but I couldn’t say how long the manipulation may last without getting a good look at the magical traces.”

She wonders how much Anna will remember once this spell does fade, and if she will just outright kill the man or just kick him out on his ass.

“Mental control can be unpredictable. For now it is probably safest to let Ms. Barton do what she wants rather than trying to enlighten her that she’s under a form of mind control. At least until it’s gone. She obviously has no ill intent towards us as a current result and I would hate for that to change. She does have the ability to unlock any door in this establishment and I would rather not be killed in my sleep after making myself an enemy in her mind.”

"Agreed," Shard breathes, straining to sit up and examine Anna's work on him. "And for the time being I believe it's wise to keep our enemies close Cole. I don't trust Allyister, and there's something he's not telling been telling us and his not too subtle hints about the item I gave Hetty, confirm such suspicions." Then looking to Hetty, "For now I think he can be an asset, he could have married Anna, or just as easily have killed her, it'll be little work to kill every one who could possibly inherit the Inn. Thus forcing the deed to default to the banks, or worse the the royal family. And he could have had the harpist compel all the people here tonight to kill us. But he didn't. For whatever the reason, I think he's being truthful about his claims to protect, or ensure the Inn and Anna's survival, to one ends, I don't know, and that is what frightens me my friends."

"Well as long as we manage to stay alive we have time to figure that out. And I agree, at this moment that may be the best way to stay alive."

Hetty tries to figure how the inn would be better in the hands of the bank over the ruling family. Considering her own background his viewpoint could be considered offensive but she lets it go. This is, after all, not a country she personally has close ties to in that area.

"It is late. I will see you both in the morning."

"wait!" Shard yells after Hetty, aren't you forgetting my favorite favorite bottle of wine? I'm going to need that to help me sleep you know?" Shard grins, "Unless of course you'd like to join me?" He winks, and winces at his sore body.

Pausing on the stairs she looks down at Shard with a grin. "Darling your wine troubles are something to speak to Ms. Barton about. As I recall you miss-placed your last bottle."

His offer amuses Hetty. "I think you'll sleep just fine without me this evening. Probably better as I'm sure you would probably sustain more injuries from me knocking you to the floor as I steal all of your covers." Shaking her head she continues up to her room, calling 'goodnight' behind her.

"Have a good night friend Sauveterre," Says Cole, "Save Friend Shard some wine." He says, remembering her holding onto the bottle for Shard. Turning to the Elfish man, Cole sighs, "I don't believe you'll come across that bottle again. Would you like me to help your room friend Shard?"

Sighing, "yeah I get that feeling as well." Then looking up at Cole, he shrugs, "I suppose I shouldn't pass up a little help up the stairs since I'll be mourning over my lost bottle of wine." He says, leaning up and offering Cole his arm.

Taking Shard's Arm and pulling around his shoulder as he helps him to his feet and proceeds to carry him upstairs.
